How long for and the last time you have sailed in speed? I started sailing speed in the 1st Walfisch Bay Speedweek in 1988. Thats where my interest started in speedsailing. In 1988 the speedweek was won with a top speed of 28 knots. The last time I competed and sailed speed was in 2014 in Lüderitz.

Your favourite spot for Speed Sailing? Why? Walfisch Bay. The spot is great with very constant winds and smooth water. The strip is almost 2 km long and even with 30 speedsailors on the water there is enough space to sail fast. It is not the fastest course as the angle is too tight, but perfect for competitions.

Your biggest objective for 2015? Go FAST !!!!

In your opinion, what speed can be achieved in windsurfing this year considering the best conditions and the 2015 riders list?

*male (currently 52.05 kts) = A good and valid question. We will find out soon.

*female (currently 45.83 kts) = A little bit faster.

In kitesurfing?

*male (currently 56.62 kts) = We will find out and see.

In your opinion, what are the most important criteria to achieve top performances?

Score: 1 – 5 / 1 = very important & 5 = less important

  • Training = 1
  • Equipment = 1
  • Sailor = 1
  • Wind conditions = 1
  • Type of water / stretch of water = 1

To reach world record speeds all criteria’s must integrate seamlessly and they are all important.

If you have sailed the Lüderitz channel before, in only 3 words, express your feelings when you sail it? Whow, Awsome, Fun.
